For your mental alertness and to stay current on the current traffic rules, consider the following programs:
- The Auto Club’s Mature Driver Improvement Course
offers mature drivers instructions through its online course. Drivers 55
and older who complete the course receive a DMV certificate that may
qualify them for auto insurance discounts. For more information call:

- AARP Driver Safety Program
can help you learn the effects of aging on driving and how you can
adjust your driving. Most classes are taught in two, four hour sessions
spanning two days, or a single four hour “refresher” course for those
who have taken the course within the last five years. The cost is $12
for AARP members and slightly higher for non-members. For class information and

- CarFit® is a free, individualized safety check to help you increase vehicle control and comfort as a driver. Discover easy adjustments that may protect you behind the wheel. Driving Alternatives / Transportation Programs:
- Access Services, a local public entity, is the Los Angeles County Consolidated Transportation Services Agency (“CTSA”) and administers the Los Angeles County Coordinated Paratransit Plan (“Plan”) on behalf of the County’s 43 public fixed route operators (i.e., bus and rail). Pursuant to the Plan, Access facilitates the provision of complementary ADA paratransit services to certain persons with disabilities as required by 42 U.S.C. §12143 under the name “Access Paratransit.” Paratransit is an alternative mode of flexible passenger transportation that does not follow fixed routes or schedules.For more information and how to apply for the program visit: http://www.asila.org/home/
- City Ride
is a transportation assistance program for individuals age 65 or older
and qualified disabled persons in the City of Los Angeles and select
areas of Los Angeles County. The program offers Cityride participants
reduced costs for the purchase of City of Los Angeles permitted taxi

- LA DOT DASH can helps seniors make quick trips around town and at a low fee. Call 1-800-COMMUTE for more information or visit: http://www.ladottransit.com
- FREE Fare Program
affords greater mobility to Access riders by providing more travel
options. It is automatically available to all individuals who were
granted eligibility for Access. It enables individuals to ride
fixed-route buses and the Metro rail at no cost. The Free Fare program does not require registration. A rider can simply present the Access ID card
as fare at the time of boarding the bus or rail. For questions about

- Dial A Ride Services
provides curb-to-curb and demand response services for
seniors who reside in the Los Angeles county. For more information
